Free QR code generator

Make a QR code for a link, a business card (vCard) or your Wi-Fi. Style it, add your logo and a line of text. Download it as PNG or SVG. Bulk mode creates many codes at once, each with its own text label. The QR codes are generated in your browser and never sent over the Internet.

Error correction

A higher level still scans when part of the code is damaged or dirty, but makes the code denser.

Quiet zone · blank margin

The QR code standard asks for 4 modules. 1 is enough when the code sits on a plain background.

PNG scale · pixels per module

Every module is a whole number of pixels, so edges stay sharp.

Always scan and verify your QR code with a phone before you print or share it.

These are static QR codes: once printed, you can't change what happens when they are scanned.

How to make a QR code

  1. Choose what the code holds: a link or text, a business card, your Wi-Fi settings, or many codes at once in Bulk mode.
  2. Fill in the details. The preview updates as you type.
  3. Style it if you like: pattern, colours, a border, your logo and a text label below the code.
  4. Download it as PNG or SVG, and scan it with a phone before you print or share it.

QR code types

Link or text

Any web address or text. A web address opens in the phone’s browser when scanned; anything else is shown as text. The generator warns you when a link lacks https:// or has a typo that would stop it from opening.

Business card

A vCard with your contact details. Most phone cameras offer to save them as a new contact.

Wi-Fi settings

Your network name and password. Most phone cameras offer to join the network without typing the password.

App downloads

This generator makes codes that always open the same link, whatever the phone. To send iPhone users to the App Store and Android users to Google Play, the code needs a smart download link instead. Onelink.to makes those, and you can start for free.

Bulk mode

Paste one link or text per line and get one code for each, up to 10,000 in a zip. You can also combine lists, and give each code its own text label.

Static vs dynamic QR codes

This generator makes static codes. The link or text is written into the pattern, so no service sits in between. The code doesn’t expire, nobody counts the scans, and it works as long as the page it points to is online. The catch is that you can’t change it once it’s printed.

A dynamic code contains a short link that a service forwards to your destination. You can change the destination after printing and see how often the code is scanned, but the code stops working if the service does. Onelink.to makes dynamic codes for apps, where one code sends each phone to its own app store.

Printing tips

  • For print, download SVG, which stays sharp at any size. PNG is fine for screens.
  • Make the code at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide. For anything read from a distance, a good rule is a tenth of that distance, so 30 cm for a poster read from three metres away.
  • Keep the code dark on a light background. Many phone cameras can’t read a light code on a dark background.
  • Leave a blank margin, the quiet zone, around the code. Text or artwork touching it makes it harder to read. You can widen the margin under Advanced.
  • Keep logos small, since a logo covers part of the code. The generator only lets you choose sizes that keep it scannable.
  • Scan a printed copy with an iPhone and an Android phone, from the distance people will actually be at. More in Make sure your printed QR code scans.

Onelink.to free QR code generator — FAQ

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. Every feature, including logos, bulk mode and SVG downloads, is free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Can I use the QR codes commercially?

Yes. You can use the codes for any purpose, including commercial use, with no attribution.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. The link or text is part of the code itself, so there’s nothing that can expire.

Is there a scan limit?

No. The phone reads the content straight from the code.

Can I see how many people scanned the QR code?

No. Codes from this generator lead straight to their content, so nothing records the scans. A dynamic code such as a Onelink counts every scan and shows which devices were used.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The QR codes are generated in your browser and never sent over the Internet.

Can I change the link after printing?

Not with a code from this generator, because the link is part of the pattern. If you need to be able to change it, use a dynamic code, such as a Onelink.

Will a QR code with a logo still scan?

Yes. The generator only lets you choose logo sizes that keep the code scannable. Scan a printed copy before a big print run.

Which file format should I use?

SVG for print, PNG for screens, emails and slides.

How many codes can bulk mode make?

Up to 10,000 per download, as one zip of PNG or SVG files.

Why doesn’t my QR code scan?

Most often it’s the contrast, the size or the margin. Check that the code is darker than its background, big enough for the distance, has blank space around it, and that any logo is small. Also make sure the link itself opens.
